Energy labelling of buildings

When a house is to be sold, it must have a valid energy label. An energy label is a document stating the condition of the house in an energy context, and how it can be improved, e.g. by replacing windows, loft insulation, or replacing an old heating system.

Houses are energy labelled on a scale from A-G in the same way as we know in fridges for example. ‘A’ means that the building uses little energy, while ‘G’ means that the building consumes a lot of energy. Energy labels are prepared by specially trained energy consultants.
