Energy-efficient glazing

In most homes there is a great deal of heating loss through windows, resulting in considerable energy waste. Switching to energy-efficient glazing - or A-labelled windows - provides you with a solution that is up to three times as energy-efficient as traditional double glazing. And this shows on the heating bill, especially if you replace all your old windows with energy-efficient glazing.

Energy-efficient glazing looks a lot like regular double glazing, however the inner layer of glass has a thin metal coating that reflects the heat back into the room. Alternatively you can choose secondary glazing which will help insulate e.g. old windows.

You can buy energy-efficient glazing from your local glazier, directly from the manufacturer on the internet. It is always a good idea to get several offers that fit your window specifications as prices may vary. Energy-efficient glazing is usually slightly more expensive than regular double glazing, however you will save the extra cost within a few years.
