Adaptation to climate change

The climate is changing. We are experiencing wetter, warmer and more extreme weather, and these changes in climate will affect us for many decades. Therefore, we must reduce our emissions of greenhouse gases and we must start adapting to climate change.

Danish coasts will have to be safeguarded against higher water levels and more powerful storms than we are used to today. Danish buildings must be able to withstand storms and flooding. We must be mindful of new types of pests, and longer lasting heat waves could cause health problems.

We can exploit the advantages and counteract the negative effects of climate change by preparing for them.
