Wind power

The development in wind turbines has been rapid since the 1980s and especially over the last 10-15 years. Today wind power is one of the most important renewable and CO2-neutral energy sources in Denmark.

A substantial proportion of electricity produced in Denmark comes from wind turbines, and in 2007 this energy form constituted almost 20 per cent of the total Danish electricity supply. The production of electricity from wind turbines is highly dependent on the changing wind conditions which is why the production varies from year to year.

We distinguish between wind turbines on land and off-shore wind turbines. In Denmark the majority of wind turbines are found on land.
